Tools4ever introduces WebSSO

NEW YORK, New York – May 18, 2015 — Tools4ever, the market leader in identity and access management (IdM/IAM), has introduced a new feature, WebSSO, for its enterprise single sign-on solution, E-SSOM. With WebSSO, employees outside the corporate network, those who telecommute or while travelling, can access cloud applications with any device, such as a PC, tablet, Android or smartphone via single sign-on utilizing one password and username.

Tools4ever’s new solution means users no longer have to remember multiple passwords and user names and can be more productive in their work. Employees using their personal devices (BYOD) for business also are able to enjoy the same features that are used to in the corporate network.

The key differentiator here is that it’s easy to offer single sign-on (SSO) within a network, but outside it and with devices other than those provided by an employer’s organization has been problematic up to now. This is because if the device is not in the company network, the user cannot be authenticated within Active Directory. A type of federation is then necessary, for example, ADFS. Achieving SSO federation for cloud applications can be difficult or unaffordable to accomplish and often supported by the supplier. With the WebSSO solution from Tools4ever, companies can now offer SSO without regard to location or device.

WebSSO is based on an intelligent browser plug-in that processes the various logins for cloud applications automatically. For the login details, the plug-in communicates with the E-SSOM service in the company’s own network. This allows the login details to remain secure since they are stored in the company network and are not accessible at an unknown location in the “cloud.” For the end user, the plug-in operates transparently and the employee can enjoy the SSO experience on any device and from any location.

“We are happy to have been able to add a new, important and frequently requested feature to E-SSOM,” said Jacques Vriens, founder and general manager of Tools4ever BV. “Since the introduction of E-SSOM, we have already added two-factor authentication, logging in with an access card and Follow Me, features applied particularly in healthcare. With WebSSO, we are meeting our clients’ wishes to be able to allow employees to work remotely, and from their own devices.”
