San Francisco, January 12, 2016 — Rocana, a pioneering operations analytics firm applying big data analytics to IT Operations, today announced Rocana Ops 1.3, the latest version of the highly scalable, fault tolerant solution for managing and analyzing event-oriented machine data for enterprises worldwide. With a key new advanced analytics module that builds on existing strength in anomaly detection, Rocana 1.3 further extends the company’s technology leadership in IT Operations Analytics.
Managing IT operations is becoming more difficult, while at the same time business leaders are expecting greater efficiency with IT operations. Enterprise infrastructure is becoming much more complex because of IaaS, PaaS, and SDN, as well as increasing complexity of applications from cloud and SOA. The need for unified monitoring has never been greater, and Rocana Ops provides a solution sophisticated enough to handle these stringent operational analytics demands.
Rocana Ops 1.3 introduces its next-generation, unified anomaly detection, root cause analysis, and data visualization capabilities based on machine learning algorithms that go beyond basic monitoring. To more accurately and intelligently navigate through the massive amount of events within an organization’s IT infrastructure, Rocana Ops implements an adaptive anomaly detection feature that continually and autonomously fine-tunes itself based on historical data, constantly adjusting thresholds for anomalies based on changes in the real world. It also simultaneously analyzes hundreds of thousands of events across multiple metrics including event volume, CPU, disk and RAM utilization as well as customized metrics whereby customers can establish acceptable parameters around nearly any IT function, such as web page latency on an e-Commerce website. For example, the software can extract latency data from log files, convert that data into a metric, and then perform anomaly detection on website latency moving forward so that if a web page takes twice as long to load than normal, it will be automatically discovered and IT operations teams can perform a root cause analysis to determine why. By monitoring anomalies with Rocana’s unique algorithms, organizations can pro-actively identify and address issues while maintaining a deeper, single source of truth for all IT operations.
Rocana Ops 1.3 also features the inclusion of a new module, Weighted Analytic Risk Notifications (W.A.R.N.), a second order analytic that looks at the history of anomalies by object—such as service, device, host, or location—and then computes a score that helps IT teams further understand the prevalence and severity of anomalies. By applying historical context in creating a risk score, Rocana gives IT administrators the ability to identify which entities in their IT environment are having the most unusual behavior, and drill down to investigate or take further action as needed. For example, a plant manager in a manufacturing facility monitoring pressure sensors and other IoT device data may use W.A.R.N. to predict potential equipment failures, mitigating potentially significant impacts on the business and customers.
Rocana Ops 1.3 introduces support for Hortonworks in addition to Cloudera, further deepening the platform’s reach in the most popular Hadoop distributions on the market. The product is available today, and pricing and licensing terms are predictable and encourage data collection and deep analysis. There are no daily limits or punitive measures for exceeding quotas. Major production deployments of Rocana Ops are already underway with enterprises worldwide.
Quote from Rocana CEO and Co-Founder Omer Trajman
“Rocana’s ability to deliver a single source of truth for all IT operations is disrupting the market not just because of the significant scalability and affordability we enable compared to other solutions, but because enterprises realize they can no longer afford to run their infrastructure using dozens of disconnected tools. Rocana is setting a new bar for the level of operational awareness and efficiency of monitoring modern IT infrastructure.”
Quote from Cloudera Director of Information Technology, Travis Melo
“IT Operations Analytics has become a big data problem. Cloudera found Rocana Ops to deliver the scale and performance we need to make sure our infrastructure helps us build the best products we can to our customers. Rocana offers a modern solution both for our customers and for our own internal use.”
