SAN MATEO, Calif. — July 9, 2013 — Merck & Co., Inc., a global healthcare leader operating in more than 140 countries to deliver innovative health solutions, will present a Composite Software data virtualization case study at the Pharma Data Analytics Conference on July 10 in Philadelphia, PA. In his talk, “Enabling Business Performance Insight through Data Virtualization,” John Westby, Merck Executive Director, Enterprise Application Services will detail Merck’s data virtualization selection process and use of the Composite Data Virtualization Platform as a mechanism to help cut data delivery time frames from months to real-time.
According to Westby, Merck’s business is challenged by external forces that require the company to make decisions even faster than the company is currently able to. “The current pace of acquiring business information is no longer sufficient for strategic decision making,” Westby said. “Business needs have changed from knowing the ‘what’ to knowing the ‘why’. The use of data virtualization has enabled us to close the ‘why’ gap significantly.”
In the session, attendees will learn about:
- * Merck’s data integration strategy that drives business performance insight.
- * How the innovative use of data virtualization has cut time frames from months to real-time.
- * Successful projects and the key factors behind them.
- * Next steps in Merck’s agile business and IT journey
