RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – September 23, 2013: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced its ThinkServer rack portfolio has been tested and certified with Oracle Linux and Oracle VM.  Certification testing was performed using Oracle Linux with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel, which is optimized for enterprise software and hardware. With this certification, Lenovo’s ThinkServer rack portfolio is now ready for running mission-critical and virtualized enterprise Oracle applications and offers customers a versatile, cost-effective, open standards-based solution.  Lenovo has also achieved Oracle Linux Ready and Oracle VM Ready status through Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN).

“This certification underscores Oracle’s confidence in our ThinkServer rack portfolio and Lenovo’s commitment in serving customers’ data centers and the private cloud,” said Darrel Ward, vice president, Enterprise Product Group.  “Lenovo ThinkServer together with Oracle Linux and Oracle VM enhance an organization’s ability to run business-critical applications and improve overall operating efficiency.”

The certification process helps ensure that customers can benefit from the pre-tested and certified solutions. Having completed the rigorous testing guidelines as part of Oracle’s Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) program for Oracle Linux and Oracle VM, Lenovo ThinkServer systems are ready for deployment in Oracle environments. Lenovo also plans to test and validate its new series of ThinkServer rack servers to meet customers’ demanding performance levels for running enterprise-class business applications.

“By certifying Lenovo’s ThinkServer rack portfolio with Oracle Linux and Oracle VM, our customers gain greater confidence and choice in the infrastructure for their enterprise applications,” said Wim Coekaerts, senior vice president, Linux and Virtualization Engineering, Oracle. “Together Oracle and Lenovo provide customers with tested solutions for modern data centers and clouds.”
