AUSTIN, TEXAS —Sep 4, 2013—Gravitant® today announced enhancements to its award-winning cloudMatrix cloud brokerage and management platform with the release of version 6.4.
– Out-of-the-box service templates that predefine the pricing models and VM configurations that simplify the consumption of VMware private clouds
– Tighter integration with existing VMware private clouds with a new Discover and Sync capability that includes vApp and vApp template support
– More scalable management of complex, multi-tier applications with a new Managed Group feature that can be mapped to VMware vApps
– Easier security management through standardized integrations with Identity and Access Management and Multi-Factor Authentication tools
While IT organizations continue to invest in standing up private clouds, many of these initiatives struggle to get traction. Many private clouds do not provide the same buyer experience for internal business users who still prefer to use public clouds.
Using Gravitant’s new Service Templates for Private Clouds, IT can mimic public cloud providers such as Amazon, Terremark and Savvis in how they display and offer their private cloud services. The out-of-the-box service templates provide common pricing models (pay-as-you-go, reserved and pre-paid) as well as the definition of the configuration parameters of private cloud resources (vCPUs, memory and storage). For organizations that have made a significant investment in VMware private cloud technologies, they can now greatly improve the buying and consumption experience of their private clouds with the use of public cloud-like pricing and packaging that their end-users desire.
As most commercial and public entities have accelerated their use of private and public clouds, multi-cloud use is now at the heart of most data center strategies. A survey by industry analyst firm Neovise showed that 74% of companies employing infrastructure-as-a-service are using more than one type of cloud. Yet, many companies do not have a consistent and scalable means to manage their multiple cloud deployments. The cost savings of using cloud are quickly consumed by the complexity of managing them.
Gravitant’s Discovery and Sync for VMware Clouds allows IT to easily consolidate the management of VMware-based private clouds and public clouds into a common multi-cloud platform that drives standardization and simplification. It provides a streamlined way to import key attributes of a VMware cloud such as the vApps and vApp templates into cloudMatrix. The sync feature allows VMware admins to continue to use VMware consoles alongside cloudMatrix.
The new Managed Group capability improves IT admins’ productivity by allowing them to manage a complex, multi-tier application or a distributed environment as a single entity across multiple clouds. This provides a highly scalable way to power on/off and reboot the entire group as well as a simple means to export, import, move, and copy the overall group design. Managed Groups can map to VMware vApps and extend that capability to other non VMware-based private and public clouds.
“Gravitant is dedicated to helping business and organizations get the full benefit of cloud computing as they move to an IT-as-a-Service model,” said Mohammed Farooq, Chairman and CEO of Gravitant. “Our cloudMatrix 6.4 release is another step in our journey to providing a better cloud consumption experience using a highly scalable multi-cloud management and brokering platform.”
Gravitant’s cloudMatrix 6.4 is available immediately for large enterprise customers seeking a multi-cloud management platform that enables IT-as-a-Service. It can also be white-labeled by IT channel partners that want to transform into a cloud services brokerage.
