Datameer Introduces Datameer 6 With a New User Experience for Iterative Analytics

Traditionally, the analytics process requires either specialized tools for each step that depend on different users and skill sets, or end-to-end-tools that require sequential workflows. Either approach can make for a long, uncoordinated, and often frustrating user experience that ultimately delays time to insight as potential new data quality and consistency issues may go unnoticed until the last step of visualization.

Datameer, an end-to-end big data analytics application native for Hadoop, today unveiled Datameer 6 to continue democratizing big data analytics by making traditionally complex tasks easy. Datameer 6 introduces an elegant new front end that reinvents the entire user experience, giving fluidity to the entire self-service analytics workflow between data integration, preparation, analytics and visualization in a single screen. By not requiring technical skills or the need for specialized tools, citizen data scientists are empowered to get the answers they need from their data.

“The immediate feedback loop that Datameer 6 provides our business users with will make their data discovery process so much easier and faster,” said Mathew Hawkins, global data integration and infrastructure manager at Surdome. “Now, they aren’t required to go through a pre-defined analytics workflow and will have more time finding insights that matter to the business.”

“Ease of use is becoming more important for business analysts who are overwhelmed with growing data complexity, and Datameer 6 is addressing this challenge to improve adoption among line of business stakeholders,” said John Myers, senior analyst of Business Intelligence at Enterprise Management Associates. “By eliminating the friction between different workflow elements, users can clearly understand the impact of any data or calculation changes made as part of their data discovery activities.”

Datameer 6 also introduces the addition of Spark to its patent-pending Smart Execution technology, which intelligently selects the best processing framework for every single job while abstracting complexity from the end user. This addition ensures the fastest processing time, every time and allows the user to focus on the business problem at hand, instead of the underlying technology.

“It’s important for us to invest in a flexible data analytic architecture that meets our short and long-term needs,” said Hawkins. “Datameer Smart Execution with Spark means we have one more option that can handle our processing needs, without us having to know what’s going on under the hood.”

“With the added focus on the speed of response associated with interactive data discovery, the addition of the Spark processing engine to Smart Execution demonstrates Datameer’s ability to incorporate the benefits of new processing frameworks without impacting the data discovery process.” said Myers. “This allows business analysts to concentrate on what’s important – finding insights from their data – as opposed to how to configure and take advantage of various processing options.”

Incorporating multiple engines provides users with a one-stop-shop for a wide variety of analytical situations, and can scale for the multitude and variety of analytic processing needs that enterprise customers face.

“It’s not enough to just get data analytics in the hands of business users — it has to be extremely easy to use,” said Stefan Groschupf, CEO of Datameer. “The user experience has to engage them with their work and the goals of the company and the back end needs to handle all of the heavy lifting while removing the technical complexity. We’re bringing both to the market with Datameer 6.”
