Corero Network Security and Juniper Networks have entered a global partnership agreement enabling Juniper and qualified channel partners to sell Corero’s SmartWall DDoS protection software products and services in conjunction with Juniper Networks® MX Series 5G Universal Routing Platform. The move enables the companies to substantially boost carrier network protections against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
Many large providers are reported to have only have 10% DDoS scrubbing coverage for their transit/peering capacity. A Corero spokesperson confirmed the solution scales to 40Tb of automatic, real-time DDoS mitigation, enabling an order of magnitude increase in protection capacity that lets providers augment current redirect/scrubbing solutions with fast, accurate DDoS mitigation at the Internet edge.
Wayne Cheung, Product Marketing Director at Juniper Networks said, “Providers are facing the challenge of securing increasingly complex and exponentially faster networks. By leveraging Corero’s SmartWall DDoS detection and mitigation technology to automatically control Juniper’s SDN-enabled MX Series, we are able to offer an integrated solution that protects the Provider Edge against the increasing risk posed by DDoS attacks. Juniper’s expanded relationship with Corero provides our customers with additional security options to make the self-driving network a reality.”
The solution is viewed as raising the bar for automated, scalable and secure IP networks. “This integrates Juniper’s proven routing technology and Corero’s high-performance DDoS protection… delivering the combined solution to large, strategic customers through Juniper’s global sales force and channel,” said Jeff Wilson, Senior Research Director, Cybersecurity Technology at IHS Markit.
“This new partnership extends the scalability and automation of DDoS protection to unprecedented price-performance levels, securing these networks in real time against large-scale attacks,” said Corero Network Security CEO Ashley Stephenson.
According to DDoS Trends Research conducted by Corero in the first half of 2018, DDoS attacks increased 40% over the same period in 2017, and high volume attacks doubled.
