Today marks Earth Day 2013! Every year on April 22, the world celebrates the birth of the modern environmental conservationist movement. With the human population already testing the Earth’s capacity to support us, it’s incredibly important to teach kids, as soon as possible, what they can do to help the world they live in. Here are three great kids’ apps that also happen to teach important lessons about the importance of being green!
Nature’s Friends by Bumblebeembie interactive studio – iOS only – $0.99
Through a narrative coloring book, Nature’s Friends discusses important lessons of being environmentally friendly, including the three R’s: reuse, reduce, recycle. These principles are discussed in a way that’s easy to understand, and the coloring portion of the app is one of the best we’ve seen.
Gro Memo by Gro Play Digital – Android and iOS – $1.99
Gro Memo is a great new app from the wonderful developers at Gro Play Digital. It takes the classic memory game and includes a great educational element where, for each level a child completes, the environment becomes cleaner and healthier for all the animals. There are several scenes, including the forest and the ocean, and kids are sure to love helping out each adorable animal!
The Lorax – Dr. Seuss by Oceanhouse Media, Inc. – Android and iOS – $4.99
The beloved Dr. Seuss story, The Lorax, comes to life in this incredibly well-designed book app from Oceanhouse Media, Inc. Kids and parents alike are sure to enjoy the interactive retelling of this narrative that deals with the important principles of protecting the environment to benefit us all.
We hope you enjoyed these three wonderful ways you can teach your kids the value of helping out Mother Nature. Happy Earth Day!
