10 More Efficient Ways to Report Your Key Data

Keeping everyone up to date and on the same page in your business is critical for optimal company performance.  This means that efforts need to be made to ensure that things are properly and efficiently reported in a timely manner.  If you drop the ball, when it comes to key data reporting, this could spell disaster and cost your company large sums of money.  The following are ten ways to improve your data reporting methods.

Using Tableau

Tableau on Hadoop has become a popular method for businesses to improve their data reporting and analysis methods.  Not only is Tableau an efficient application for timely reporting, but it allows the user to compile and work with a variety of data types for increased flexibility in the workplace.  It also allows users to integrate and process their analytical information with their hadoop cluster for optimal access.

Physical Data Reporting

Just because you live in a technologically advanced age, this does not mean it is necessarily better or even legal to report business-related data in an electronic format.  When it comes to situations involving HIPAA compliance or handling other types of sensitive company data, you may need to develop strategies for efficiently reporting data in physical files.  Generally, this involves having a step-by-step method of reporting data into hard files that is easily archived and accessed when the need arises.

Data Backup

Reporting data may be essential to your company’s ability to function and move fast on new prospects.  For this reason, backing up sensitive or key data is an important, yet often overlooked, part of data reporting.  You may be forced to access archived information to produce further reports on data, which means you will need reliable data archiving software or hard copy methods for data storage.

Organizing Data

Before you report any new data to your boss or others in your company, it is important to develop a solid strategy for organizing data.  Depending on the application of the data you are reporting, you may need to organize data by date, topical relevance or by order of importance for easier analysis for the end user.

Timely Reporting

It is easier to keep others on track with the data you are reporting if your schedule of data reporting is done with regular frequency.  When people are not expecting new data to come in on a regular and frequent basis, then chances are they will not be ready to check for the data you are sending them.  By training others to your schedule of reporting and sticking to timely reports, you guarantee greater awareness of the data you are providing to other employees in your company.

Mobile Data

If you are on the go, but still required to update new information for company use, then a mobile solution for data reporting will be critical to your work.  Generally, you will want to research apps and mobile devices that best accommodate your preferred methods of data reporting.  In addition, you will need to make sure that these mobile devices will not pose problems in transit with reliable data transmission. Some companies have begun using this method to aggregate data for mobile users. Insurance companies use big data to generate a more personalized auto insurance quotes comparison.

Hands Free Reporting

For the multi-tasker that does not have time to stop to write things down, hands free reporting methods are a great way to save time and improve data reporting efficiency.  Devices that operate by voice and transfer the data into a digital format for easy transmission will serve to make your job tons easier.

Hire an Assistant

If you are really too busy to do your own reporting of incoming data, it is certainly possible to hire an assistant to take over this aspect of your job.  Sometimes the best way to improve reporting efficiency is to work smarter, not harder.  This approach to data reporting will also make you more productive around the office.

Streaming Data

If your job involves taking and reporting data in visual formats, such as pictures and charts, then streaming data through a video feed format may prove to be more efficient for your business-related applications.  Using this method allows you to set up a device with a camera that is trained on the area for which your data is being presented for streaming.  If necessary, you can always review and edit the stream before sending the video-based material over for others to review.

Getting Everyone to Follow Your Lead

When it is your job to manage and maintain data reporting efforts for your company, you will want to be directly involved in training others to report data the way you need it to be reported.  For this reason, you will need to research the best practices for data reporting for your industry-related purposes.  With everyone operating on the same page, due to your training efforts, your boss will see that your data reporting methods are able to keep the company operating with a solid rate of performance.
