WSO2’s Practical SOA Education Initiative Frames SOA Philosophy in a Simple Yet Vigorous Approach to Implementing an Enterprise SOA, Based on Real-World Best Practices

Palo Alto, CA – October 20, 2011 – Service-oriented architecture (SOA) provides a framework for enabling IT and business efficiency and agility. However, too often implementations fall short because IT practitioners have lost sight of core SOA principles. To help foster effective SOA design, WSO2 has published a new white paper for solution architects, entitled “Practical SOA for the Solution Architect.” The concepts behind “Practical SOA” will also be covered in a webinar on Tuesday, October 25, 2011.

Ganesh Prasad authored the new “Practical SOA” paper and is the featured webinar speaker. A member of the WSO2 consulting team, Ganesh is a Sydney-based architect with 24 years of IT expertise and more than a decade of practical experience on what works and what doesn’t when implementing an SOA.

White Paper Explores Critical SOA Design Principles

In the “Practical SOA” paper, Ganesh offers a retelling of the SOA philosophy in an easily understandable, practical and applicable form, independent of the actual tools used to implement it. He discusses the:

  • two layers of SOA that practitioners need to be mindful of,
  • three core SOA technology components that every practitioner must understand and know when to use,
  • eight supporting technology aspects that refine a solution design, and
  • four critical data design principles that, if ignored, can negate the significant investments in SOA technology.

Webinar Offers Simple SOA Rules of Thumb

A one-hour webinar presented by WSO2 Architect Ganesh Prasad will provide a high-level review of technology concepts from the “Practical SOA” paper and is designed for a broad range of IT professionals. At the end of the hour, attendees will have gained insights required to grasp the spirit of SOA from a practical point of view and a few simple rules of thumb to get started. The webinar will run twice on Tuesday, October 25, 2011: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. PDT for the Americas and 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. GMT for Europe and Asia-Pacific.
