Talend Enables Unified Integration in the Cloud

Talend, a global open source software leader, today announced Talend Cloud, its Cloud-enabled Integration Platform and the first comprehensive unified integration platform for the cloud and hybrid IT environments. An extension of the recently announced Unified Integration Platform, Talend Cloud offers elasticity, ubiquity, extensibility, security and reliability to those organizations looking to ensure the integrity of their integration processes, whether on-premise, in the cloud, via SaaS or in hybrid environments.

For organizations with hybrid IT environments – that combine on-premise, private cloud, public cloud and SaaS – application and data integration are extremely critical, yet they entail more complexity than traditional on-premise systems.  Concerns surrounding latency, bandwidth, permissions and security are causing new forms of integration challenges.  Talend Cloud provides flexible and secure integration of on-premise systems, cloud-based systems and SaaS applications.  Based on Talend’s Unified Integration Platform, it also provides a common environment for users to manage the entire lifecycle of integration processes including a graphical development environment, a deployment mechanism and runtime environment for operations and a monitoring console for management – all built on top of a shared metadata repository.

“Although cloud has become ubiquitous in today’s IT deployments, many organizations are still trying to determine how to function in hybrid environments,” said Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend.  “At the same time, the data deluge is continuing and these same organizations are struggling to properly manage and integrate this information and the multiple systems that store and process it.  Using Talend Cloud, customers can address these issues within a single platform that addresses a broad range of integration needs and technologies, ranging from data-oriented services to data quality and master data management, via a unified environment and a flexible deployment model.”

“Though demand for cloud computing is on the rise, organizations are rarely seeking to operate exclusively in the cloud, choosing instead a hybrid model in which cloud applications run alongside their on-premise IT infrastructures,explained Ted Friedman, vice president distinguished analyst, Gartner Inc. “What often gets overlooked is the need for integration as part of these hybrid clouds, sharing data as required to support the business processes which span on-premises and cloud-based applications and data stores.”

Talend Cloud provides complete deployment flexibility of all Talend’s solutions and technologies within the Unified Integration Platform, including data integration, data quality, master data management and enterprise service bus.  All components can be installed transparently in the cloud, on premise, or in hybrid mode, and ensure the overall orchestration and integrity of integration processes. Key benefits of Talend Cloud include:

  • Elasticity – supports the ability to expand and contract deployments as required;
  • Ubiquity – support for standard systems and protocols; the open source model makes resources easily accessible by a myriad of platforms and devices;
  • Extensibility – a modular architecture that allows organizations to add, modify or remove functionality as requirements change over time;
  • Security & Reliability – the ability to maintain security and reliability of integration, allowing organizations to meet customer SLAs.

Talend Cloud provides automated deployment on cloud platforms such as Amazon EC2, Cloud.com and Eucalyptus. Also included in Talend Cloud is the addition of new connectors to an already-extensive portfolio, offering native connectivity to a broad range of key cloud technologies and applications as well as the most popular SaaS applications including Salesforce.com, NetSuite, SugarCRM, BIRT OnDemand, Marketo, Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, Database.com, Hadoop, Google Applications, Google Analytics and Twitter. New connectors continue to be added on a regular basis, either by the open source community or by Talend’s R&D organization.  The Talend Exchange provides the latest connectors which can be downloaded and installed directly within the Talend Studio, at no per-connector cost.

“Many of the organizations we work with today are looking to implement some form of cloud strategy within the next 1-3 years – whether private clouds, public clouds, SaaS or a mixed environment,” said Steve Dine, president, Datasource Consulting, LLC. “Talend has made it easier for us to seamlessly deploy elastic and extensible data integration and data quality services in the cloud, based on the multitude of connectors currently available.  Talend Cloud is also flexible, which will offer us and our customers the ability to more easily make data management changes in the future, ensuring that as our data and application integration needs grow, Talend’s platform will be able to grow with us.”
