Talend Announces New Release of Enterprise Open Source Integration Platform

Company enhances Talend’s next-generation integration solution to deliver big data tooling,
unified ESB and BPM and enterprise-grade functions for mission-critical projects

Los Altos, CA – May 15, 2012 – Talend, a global open source software leader, today announced the availability of version 5.1 of its next-generation integration solution, the only integration platform that provides a unified environment for managing the entire integration lifecycle across data, application and process integration requirements. With version 5.1, Talend introduces big data tooling, a unified solution for Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and Business Process Management (BPM) and a set of improvements that increases enterprise readiness for mission-critical projects.

Accelerating Adoption and Deployment of Big Data
With version 5.1, Talend makes available the first set of big data integration and big data quality tools that abstracts the complexity of Hadoop programming through a graphical design environment and an engine-less MapReduce code generation paradigm. This dramatically accelerates the adoption and deployment of big data solutions. Provided under the Apache Version 2 license, Talend Open Studio for Big Data not only dramatically improves the efficiency of integration but also alleviates the need for advanced parallel programming expertise – a rare skillset on a fast growing big data market. The Talend Platform for Big Data also provides unique data quality features that allow organizations to identify and link connected records. It is compatible with all Apache Hadoop distributions.

Unified ESB and BPM
Talend v5.1 takes integration of ESB and BPM to the next level, with a new connector that provides point-and-click connectivity between a business process and web service running on the ESB. For many SOA integration projects, BPM and ESB technologies complement one another, resulting in a streamlined development environment to build a process and easily leverage an existing service interface, reducing the cost of integrating, testing and deploying business processes. This further underlines Talend’s holistic approach to integration, which is enabling organizations to dramatically reduce setup and implementation time of integration projects.

Enterprise Readiness
Talend v5.1 includes a new set of capabilities that make large enterprise deployments easier to manage. These include:
Automated deployment of updates to the Talend Runtime OSGi compliant container, enabling systems administration groups to easily manage the deployment and upgrade of runtime environments, in the Cloud and on premises.
Support of the Oozie management framework for Hadoop, facilitating the workflow management, scheduling and overall management of big data jobs.
Integration with the Kerberos authentication framework to add a layer of security and permissions to big data stored and processed in Hadoop.

Version 5.1 of commercial subscription products will be provided to all existing Talend customers as part of their subscription agreement and can be procured through usual Talend representatives or partners.
