5 Things Every IT Manager Should Automate

When looking for ways to automate your IT system, you must make sure to address three main areas. The security monitoring, alerting and compliance must be addressed to make sure that your business is performing well. One of the best ways an IT manager can prove his worth to a large company is by asking questions like what needs automation.

When you address each of the areas listed, you’ll find that you can make the system work for you even if you are not in the office.

Security Monitoring

The security monitoring that you need for your business is going to help you keep track of the content of each computer or server. Network security is arguably the most critical job for an IT professional, and there are always threats to your network’s security. Security monitoring can run itself, and can update the malware or spyware parameters for your business. You will be able to check your dashboard every day, and see the parameters that have been set by the program.

Security Alerting

First, make sure that your security programming is alerting you of all issues in the system. You may want to get an alert on your email, a text on your phone and even want to have your security program email people on your team. When all getting the same alerts, each team member can take steps to fix the problem. You can make sure that the alerting is easy to manage, and can set the levels for each alert. You can have alerts come in if any malware or spyware is found, and you can go into the program to make sure that you get a handle on the problem.

Compliance

When working on compliance for your company, make sure you’re using your program to get all the compliance reports created. These reports will keep you assured that your IT department is running safely. You can set up the system to create any report you need, and you can print out the reports after the program has created them. Also, its easy to make sure that the compliance reports are easy to read, and can gear them to your reporting needs.

The Schedule

The schedule for your reporting and alerting needs to align with the schedule for your business. You want to make sure that you have reports on your boss’ desk when everyone gets to work on Monday morning, and can have alerts sent to everyone on your team at the precise moment that there is a change in the system. It’s impossible to manage the system well if you do not schedule the alerts, and you should remember that you can change the alert schedule at any time.

Sharing Information

When you want to share information from the program, you can set up the system to send reports to anybody you like. Also, you can share the information from the system on any forum you like. The forum itself can show the report as a picture, or you can upload the files to show later on. Your team can create a site or forum that allows them to share information. Sharing information becomes much easier when you are using the security system.

Your goals as an IT manager are similar to the goals of other businesses. You can use the security program to make sure that you are not managing the security all the time. You can have the system send you alerts, and you can align the security system with your needs as a manager. Do not work any more than you have to when you can get the security system, and make sure that you are able to report to your boss at any time. The software does all the work for you, and it allows you to keep your team informed at all times.
