Oct. 19 event, featuring thought leader Dr. David Blumenthal as keynote, to focus spotlight on healthcare innovation and best practices for breaking down barriers to better care

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – September 19, 2011 – Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the leader in Business Process Management (BPM) and software for customer centricity, today announced it will host the Collaborative Healthcare Summit at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston on October 19, 2011.  The day-long Summit, a pre-event to Partners Healthcare’s 2011 Connected Health Symposium, will highlight how advanced technology is being leveraged to foster coordination, eliminate waste and improve outcomes across the healthcare spectrum.

The latest of several healthcare-focused events hosted by Pegasystems, the Summit provides a collaborative forum for healthcare organizations, including physician groups, hospitals, payers, pharmacy benefit managers and life sciences organizations.  Innovation, better transparency and increased collaboration will be explored in the sessions and panels, all of which feature industry thought leaders.

The keynote speaker is Dr. David Blumenthal, Chairman of the Commonwealth Fund Commission on a High Performance Health System, and former National Coordinator for Health Information Technology for President Obama.  Dr. Blumenthal will speak about the HITECH Act and the Nation’s performance to date in deploying Electronic Medical Records and demonstrating “meaningful use”.

Also slated to speak are Dr. Glen Stettin, SVP and Chief Medical Officer of Medco, and Scott Lundstrom, Group Vice President, IDC Health Insights, whose talk about technology strategies for an uncertain time will highlight approaches for the individual sub-segments of the healthcare ecosystem.  For a complete agenda and registration information, visit the event homepage.

Pegasystems’ healthcare clients include renowned providers, government agencies, and top life sciences companies.  Pega technology is used by three of the largest pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), 13 out of the 15 largest health payers, and more than 65% of the Blues network.  PBM clients handle more than 55% of the nation’s prescription volume; payer clients write more than 50% of all direct premiums.
