Approov Taps Cybersecurity Executive Ted Miracco as CEO

Dec 9, 2022 | News

Mobile app and API shielding security provider Approov has named Ted Miracco as CEO, succeeding David Stewart who retires after 20 years with a solid track record of year-over-year sales growth and award-winning technical achievement.

Approov enables organizations to protect their production mobile applications and APIs against current and future attack types, including those that were not considered when an app was first conceived, developed and launched. The SaaS platform is considered a cornerstone of mobile application security by leading global organizations whose consumer and B2B applications are used by millions annually, including eCommerce, financial services, healthcare and connected car sector organizations. The BMW Group, Sixt, Deindeal and MV Medic are among customers.

“The Approov Board of Directors thanks David for his leadership and commitment as we welcome Ted into an exciting and growing company,” says Lucio Lanza, Approov’s chairman of the board and managing director of Lanza techVentures. “I look forward to working closely with Ted and developing as strong a partnership as I have with David.”

“We actively recruited Ted knowing he had the right skills and knowledge to take Approov to the next level,” Stewart said. “His enthusiasm, energy and savvy are unmatched in the cybersecurity world and he will quickly become a valuable asset to Approov as it further expands its market reach and leadership in securing mobile app APIs against the broad range of cyberattacks.”

“David Stewart leaves a legacy of technological innovation and achievement that will be missed,” comments Miracco. “I will work diligently to ensure his vision for Approov remains.”

Prior to Approov, Miracco co-founded and served as CEO of Cylynt. He co-founded EDA company AWR Corporation (now Cadence Design Systems). In addition, he worked with several Fortune 500 software companies, including Cadence and startup company EEsof Inc., acquired by Hewlett Packard in 1994 and now Keysight EEsof EDA. Miracco holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
