Are you just getting on the e-reading bandwagon after all this time? Perhaps you want to test it out instead of investing in an e-reader right away. Whether you have an iPad or Nook tablet there is something out there for everyone. Whatever the case may be, you can test how you like this new found hobby by using your iPhone on the go. And with the widely available reading apps for iOS, you just might fall in love with one of them. Here are some of the mostly highly reviewed iPhone reading apps in the marketplace right now, so check them out:

– Kobo: Kobo has full support of file types in the ePub format and can easily detect various chapters and sections of your ebook. You can also change the fonts being displayed and resize to your content. Furthermore, you can sort your library however way you like: by author, title or favourites. And because it is mandatory for you to register before using the Kobo app, there is a fun element to help encourage your reading habit. The social side of this app tracks your reading progress and grants you little earned rewards and milestones for reading more books on the app. Like many fitness apps, you can then share your achievements with the Kobo community and your friends through social media.

– Nook by Barnes and Noble: If you have already jumped on this reading hobby before and just getting back to it, you will likely be familiar with the Barnes and Noble’s brand name being one of the largest US book retailers. Any purchase from them can not only be easily read on android and but also on iOS devices with reading apps for iphone like the Nook app. Like the Kobo, you can make changes to the font and text of your ebooks and also add annotations or notes to what you’re reading. What the Nook has in particular is a built in dictionary for your vocabulary needs and the ability to highlight your readings. Not only this, but the Nook app has a night theme function for a more pleasant reading experience in bed. The only downside is if you read Japanese because this full feature reading app doesn’t support Japanese text just yet

– Kindle: A lot of people don’t realize that you don’t have to own a Kindle in order to shop for ebooks through Amazon. This Kindle reading app is open and available for access through all iOS devices. Without the app however, you will need to use other supportive apps like Dropbox to open any file on the Kindle. The downside is you won’t be able to browse the Amazon library on the Kindle app and make new purchases directly. Unlike the Nook, the Kindle app supports Japanese text and a number of ebook file formats including .mobi files. Themes, fonts, sizing and brightness controls are all available to the reader on Kindle. The texts you highlight and make notes of can also be shared easily through Twitter and Facebook. Not interested in sharing your well read thoughts so publicly? The Kindle app can also saved these highlights noted as lists for your later use.

– ShuBook: The cool thing about ShuBook is that the read can easily browse through and ebooks in multiple languages. This is convenient if you want to get started right away and not have to register to start using the app. Like the other three, ShuBook also supports many file types like .doc, xls, ppt and .rtf. Unfortunately you will not be able to import files to ShuBook through the use of iTunes as you will have to pay for this feature. The only way around this is to use an app like Dropbox and open the files through the Shubook app. Generally speaking, the features are quite similar with library sorting and visual changes you can make to the fonts and themes of your library. Shubook also has an additional feature to allow readers to insert more than one bookmark at a time to pace and track your own reading. ShuBook is perfect for just reading so don’t count on it to sync your library to other devices.

– Zinio: Are you tired of books at this point? How about a light read during your coffee break at work? Zinio is the app to try when it comes to reading magazines on the go. The reads are sorted under 11 general categories for you to select from–anywhere from Technology to Lifestyle and Sports they have it over. Zinio makes it easy to read magazines in full colour and in its original interactive mode. You will also be able to bookmark the pages or photographs that you love and share it with your friends through email or social media.
