This paper provides a brief overview of how microservices can be built in the Apache Kafka ecosystem. It begins with a look at event-driven services, exploring the tradeoffs involved in implementing the various pro- tocols available for service-to-service communication. This is followed by a brief introduction of Con uent Enterprise, detailing a unique approach to meeting the challenges inherent in implementing and managing a services-based environment.
