Lately, the trending debate topic in the computing industry has been the new EU law tackling storage and manipulation of personal data. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be applied starting from May 2018 and while legislators are still working on details, its main purpose is clear: establishing a singular conduct of personal data processing for all 28 member states of the European Union. This reform will affect not only businesses that offer cloud services but also companies that use these systems.

When data is the lifeblood of your company, it’s essential to know if you’re poisoned or in the early stages of sepsis. While many companies embrace a literal eyes-on approach to monitoring their vitals, it’s easy to run out of eyeballs fast as the organization grows. Manually reviewing plots of time series data for anomalies, while manageable for small company with a few dozen metrics, is surely better than no KPI monitoring at all, but even small teams realize that this approach is costly, incurs inherent delays and can’t scale as the company (and number of metrics) grows.

Configuration Manager TP 1704 has been released and I’ve put it through the paces in my lab. I’m seeing a lot of great OSD features as well as a few undocumented gems which I am outlining below. With the release of TP1703 came a new baseline build, so if you haven’t already setup a lab to test things for yourself you will need to download TP1703 and upgrade within the console to TP1704.
